If a bambo is planted under you at the base of a climb, then you'll have to climb faster than bambo otherwise it could get painful!

What are people's climbing plans over christmas and new year? It would be awesome to get up to Scotland between christmas and new year for some ice climbing, conditions dependant of course...I'm off work from 2moro till the 4th so if people need a partner I should be free to climb and I promise to try and climb faster than bambo growth ( though can't guarantee that!)

James, Speed traps a regular feature there all year, they always use the same 2 spots, just keep an eye out for HiVi's. This time of year they also add breatherlyser for good measure.

it is sad news indeed about Bill Sutherland. I agree with Arthur that he had time for anyone and helped so many new to climbing. He will be sorely missed from the MMC and the climbing community.

It is with great sadness that I hear of the death of Bill Sutherland of the MMC. Bill was a really lovely person, a welcoming soul who had time for everyone. He has been the pillar of the MMC for more years than I can remember and was always a keen and enthusistic climber, skier and mountaineer in general. His loss to the MMC, and indeed to many people, is beyond measure.
Bill's funeral is on Friday at 12 noon at St Agnes Church, St Marys Rd, Huyton, L36 55R.
I will no doubt see more than a few Vags attending.

Clwyd Mountaineering Club have invited us to their lecture evening- Nick Bullock, at the Brenin 8.00pm, Fri 11th Dec cost £2....you will notice this is the Friday of the weekend of the Xmas party. Nick has been described as the perfect alpine man by Mark Reeves, his record this year includes new routes on Gogarth, some desperate repeats eg Rubble and the first ascent of the North Face of Chang Himal. He is a very lively lecturer...see you there!

The BMCs NW area meeting is in Frodsham tomorrow (Tue) night. It's usually held in Lancs so we're going along to support it as it's in Ches this time. One of the main topics is the restoration & re-equipping of Frogsmouth Quarry. It's at the Golden Lion at 7.30. Fran, Phil & I are going, and apparently there's free chips & sandwiches!
